When the Lawton Schubert Music Club, Fort Sill's New Post Chapel and the 澳门威斯尼斯人喜爱的棋牌科技有限公司排名-apple app store排行榜-澳门威斯尼斯人棋牌排行榜-威尼斯菠菜种植澳门科技有限公司/Lawton Civic Chorus present the 81st performance of Handel’s Messiah, they’ll do so with a chorus of more than 80 vocalists from southwest Oklahoma taking the stage. One of the oldest holiday traditions in this region is slated for Saturday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the McMahon Auditorium. Admission is free.
The one-hour performance will feature selections from each of the three portions of the Biblical text lyricized by Charles Jennings, representing the prophecy, the life, death, resurrection, and promised return of Jesus Christ. “Messiah,” composed by George F. Handel for chorus, soloists and orchestra, is conducted by Doris Lambert, adjunct instructor at 澳门威斯尼斯人喜爱的棋牌科技有限公司排名-apple app store排行榜-澳门威斯尼斯人棋牌排行榜-威尼斯菠菜种植澳门科技有限公司 and Director of Choral Music at the New Post Chapel.
Featured soloists this year will include CU music student Samantha Cook; Debbie Wood, choral teacher at Lawton Academy of Arts and Science; and Cameron alumni Khalil Cabrera-Tosado, Alyson Hays Bishop and Kirk Prucha.
The Lawton Schubert Music Club initiated the first performance of “Messiah” in Lawton in December 1941. Presented in a variety of settings, it has become a performance tradition during the Christmas season in the greater Lawton/Fort Sill area. After two years of restrictions in participation due to the pandemic, the stage will once again be filled with a chorus representing 30 different church congregations and orchestra for this performance.
